How much money do you need to start an AI trading agent?
On DXAP the account minimum is 10 USDC, and there is no subscription. That minimum lets an agent run; it is not a trading budget. Each order must be worth at least $10 on Hyperliquid, and DXAP's per-order caps start at $15, so size the account to the strategy's entry size, its open positions and the losses you can accept.

What the minimum covers
Setup requires at least 10 USDC in the selected Hyperliquid account before an agent can run. Hyperliquid rejects orders worth less than $10, and DXAP requires per-order caps of at least $15 so price rounding does not push an order under that floor. An account holding close to the minimum may never place a trade. DXAP's charge is 0.025% of the volume your agent trades, so a $1,000 fill costs $0.25 in DXAP fees. Hyperliquid's own trading fees and funding apply on top.
Match the account to the strategy
Work backward from your limits. If each entry is $50 and the agent may hold three positions, plan for at least three entries' worth of margin plus room for losses and fees. A small account with large entries will either be blocked by its own limits or run out of margin quickly.
Start small, then scale
Run a new strategy with a small account and tight limits for the first days. Read the decisions, check fills against what the agent intended, and raise limits only once the behavior matches what you wrote.
Put it into practice
Illustrative setup: a 100 USDC account, a $20 entry size, at most 2 open positions, 5 entries per 24 hours and a $15 drawdown limit. Those settings limit what the agent can propose. They are not a loss cap: price moves, leverage and execution can still take losses past the drawdown threshold.
Questions about this workflow
Will 10 USDC be enough to place trades?
Often not. The agent can run, but Hyperliquid rejects any order worth less than $10, and price rounding can push a small order under that line. Fund for the entry size your strategy uses plus margin for losses and fees.
Is there a monthly fee?
No. DXAP charges only on the volume your agent executes.
Can I add more money later?
Yes. Funds stay in your Hyperliquid account, so you deposit or withdraw there, then adjust the agent's limits to the new balance.
